Dark Harvest

As you listen to this track, you will hear the progression of creating Dark Harvest’s basic design. To realize the concept of a demonic children’s choir, I took samples from the Liberi Choir, and added reverb, detuning, and a slow tremolo to the samples. I then layered three separate tracks of choirs together for continuous inintelligable vocal dissonance, and added various other sound effects such as foley footsteps through gravel at a few different pitches, and wooden door creaks.
A one-hour loop of “music” and effects is needed to keep any maze running with constant sound. Loop breaks and technology limitations are distracting, and an overused repeating track or clip can really sour the experience of a haunted maze. Therein, there are elements placed thoughout the track to sweeten it up and avoid noticeable repetition of anything used. You can see what this “forced randomness” looks like below to make for a full hour’s worth of unique content.
